Deakin Hicks Album Release Concert: ‘THE LAST’

On Sunday, August 19 at 7pm, Thomas Deakin, Jon Sampson, and Stephanie Nilles will present original music by Lucas Hicks celebrating the release of Deakin Hicks’ third album The Last, recorded last year before Lucas passed away.
In June of 2017, Jon Sampson, Thomas Deakin, and Lucas Hicks recorded a full length album of Lucas’ all-original tunes with Kevin Bressler of Whiney Cat Audio. It was sunny, if a bit cold, and the studio was beautiful. Jon Sampson had joined on bass, the duo was a trio, and the boys were delighted.
“Lucas came fresh from a chemotherapy appointment and was in good spirits, while admitting to being ‘a little tired.’ We would later discover the treatment had wiped out his immune system entirely, and there was no reasonable explanation for his ability to be out of bed, let alone record an album over the course of three days. This will be a sit-down listening event introducing the third album by Deakin Hicks, The Last.
