OPEN AIR SUMMER REP: The Rover, by Aphra Behn

Thu, August 23, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 7:30 pm, repeating until Sat, August 25, 2018

Please note: performances of THE ROVER will be moved indoors due to ongoing air quality issues, and will now be held in the Lucas Hicks Theater at Center for the Arts!

The Rover is the most popular play by the first female professional writer in England, Aphra Behn, a 17th-century contemporary of Molière.

Set in Italy during the chaotic misrule of carnival time, the comedic play explores issues of love, deception and the excesses of passion.

Our production is a brand new edit/adaptation by Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao, performed by the teenage students of our Summer Acting Intensive, and performed outdoors in the amphitheater at Maritime Heritage Park as part of our Open Air Summer Rep!

All performances are free to the public

A pre-show opening reception will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, August 23rd to benefit the Open Air Summer Rep, CENTER’s program of FREE theater in the park.
