Each night a random theme is drawn and playwrights have overnight to write 10-minute scripts based on the theme. Directors and actors work all show-day rehearsing and memorizing lines, and 6 brand new one-act plays take the stage that night. Then we do it all again.

This fall’s festival is made up of veteran actors, writers, and directors as well as some new faces. This incarnation of the festival is TEAM SIGN UP which allows teams to come together and sign up to create and perform as a group.

Over 700 plays by local playwrights have been brought to life in our 48-Hour Festivals since 2003. They have become one of the best training grounds where local writers and directors can cut their teeth, and where over 1500 actors have come together to share the stage — all thanks to a community that champions new work, local artists, risk, and innovation.
