This January marks iDiOM Theater’s 54th 48-Hour Theater festival, the longest running theater festival in Bellingham.
This Thursday night, six yet-to-be-written plays will be wrenched out of the inky night-mind by six playwrights — overnight — and six teams of actors and directors will have just 12 hours to memorize, rehearse, costume, and ready the shows for Friday night’s 7:30pm performance. The entire line-up of six short plays will be performed a second and final time at 9:30pm.
Then… we draw a new theme, and do it all again the next night!
This festival marks our one-time-only return to the whole-team-signup format that ran for the first eight years at iDiOM: instead of randomly assigned teams, this edition allows writers, actors, and directors to enter the festival with pre-assembled teams going into the weekend.
We have been running 48-Hour Theater Festivals in Bellingham for nearly 20 years, and they have brought over six hundred new short plays into the world. They are always hilarious, often magical, and we have an incredibly talented group of local writers, directors, and actors lined up for this weekend’s 54th edition!
