Friday 11/3 during Art Walk (6pm to close)

Since the early 2000s, internet videos have permeated our culture. They entertain. They educate us about DIY projects, makeup trends, cooking, and philosophy. Internet challenges are launched and won. Political and social movements sweep nations and raise awareness through autoplaying features in our newsfeed.

Friday 11/3 during Art Walk, join our Micromedia maven, filmmaker Luke Holtgeerts, as we celebrate the world of viral video.

Friday 11/3, 6:30pm and 7:30pm

Award-winning filmmaker Luke Holtgeerts hosts two one-hour workshops on how to make create films on your smartphone. These workshops will cover the basics of pre-production as well as how to shoot and edit your own movie on your glowing adult-distraction device. These workshops are FREE (sign up now: space is limited)!

$20 Signup/Submission Fee (includes three tickets to screenings)
Kickoff meeting Friday 11/3, 8:30pm
Submission Deadline: Saturday, 11/4, 5:00pm

Saturday 11/4, 7:30pm & 9:30pm

Filmmakers will have less than 24 hours to write, shoot, edit, and finish a 3-minute short film, using smartphones only. The resulting ‘Micromedia’ will be screened at Sylvia Center at 7:30pm and 9:30pm on Saturday night – tickets available now!

Filmmakers will meet at 8:30pm on Friday, Nov 3, and will receive a theme and a handful of required prompts and props. Films will have a submission deadline of 5pm, Saturday, Nov 4.

Never made a film before but you have a smart phone? This is a great time to dip your toe in the water!

Open to ALL COMERS — just sign up online in advance (or in person at Friday’s workshops) to secure a spot. $20 signup/submission fee includes 3 tickets to the screening.
