When a famous actress and her entourage of family, staff, and admirers take up residence at her lakeside summer estate, they become entangled in the pursuit of attention and unconditional love.
“Capturing the power of art, romance, and family, Chekhov’s witty and soul-stirring masterpiece is a map of the human heart.”
This production is the world premiere of NY-based actor and filmmaker Moti Margolin’s brand new translation of this classic work, directed by Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao.
“Moti’s translation of Chekhov’s writing brings to light the humanity, humor, conflict, and strangeness of people that Chekhov loved. Oftentimes translations of the Russian works come off as stiff and formal, and fail to let the voices of the individual characters come through. It is alchemy born from immersion in the work and in the language which unlocks voices from over a century ago and all their conflicted hearts.”
